Welcome to The Academy at Children's Hospital Boston!
Mission Statement
The Academy at Children's Hospital's mission is to foster the continuous improvement of teaching and learning at CHB through its support of educational leadership and innovation.
The Academy at Children's Hospital Boston was created to:
  • promote excellence and innovation in teaching and medical education
  • offer support to medical educators in the form of: seminars and workshops, print and electronic resources
  • advance assessment programs in medical education, including peer assessment
  • facilitate the mentoring of junior faculty
  • promote interdepartmental and multidisciplinary educational programs
  • develop materials for national/international dissemination
  • foster recognition of CHB teachers locally and as national/international leaders

Scholarship in Medical Education
Eligibility for Membership in The Academy at CHB
CHB faculty (medical and non-medical) who are actively involved in medical education, and view it as an important component of their career, are encouraged to apply. It is our goal that every Department, as well as larger divisions, at CHB will have representation in The Academy at CHB.
Benefits and Responsibilities of CHB Academy Membership
Benefits of membership in The Academy at CHB include:
  • access to mentoring
  • opportunity for networking and interactions with clinical, basic and translational faculty
  • workshops/seminars/retreats
  • resource groups
  • access to HMS Academy events and resources
  • important addition to CV
Responsibilities of membership in The Academy at CHB include:
  • make progress toward completion of the project proposed in your application
  • submit yearly progress reports to the Academy at CHB Board
  • share knowledge and ideas with other members of The Academy at CHB and the community of medical educators at Children's Hospital Boston
  • mentor other medical educators, especially in your Department (Division)
  • keep your Department (Division) informed regarding issues and events relevant to medical education
  • encourage interested faculty to join the Academy at CHB
  • participate actively in Academy at CHB events (seminars, retreats, meetings, etc.) whenever possible
Continued membership is contingent upon Academy Board approval of yearly progress report on educational project and scholarship.
