To facilitate the career advancement and satisfaction of HMS faculty at Children's Hospital Boston, fostering careers of all junior faculty, and increasing leadership opportunities for women and minorities.

Congratulations to Children's Hospital faculty members!
Jessica Henderson Daniel, PhD, has been selected as a 2009 recipient of Germaine Lawrence's "Women of Excellence" awards. The award recognizes women who have worked to improve the lives of girls in Boston area communities.

Marsha Moses, PhD, has been named Chief of Vascular Biology, the department founded by the late Dr. Judah Folkman.

Samuel Lux, MD, has received the 2009 Champions in Healthcare Lifetime Achievement Award for his accomplishments in the training and teaching of young doctors.

Lyle Micheli, MD, and Holcombe Grier, MD, have each received Harvard Medical School's Dean's Community Service Awards for 2009.

Teaching and Supervising Millennial Medical Students: A Generational Perspective

Many of our current medical students and residents belong to the so-called "Millennial" or "Gen-Y" Generation. The unique perspective of this generation of learners provides some opportunities for novel teaching strategies, and may also result in some challenges around inter-generational issues. As a teacher in both the pre-clinical and clinical undergraduate medical education arenas, Dr. Roberts has worked with many Millennial learners and will share some insights and strategies for maximizing success with our students.
