Mission Statement
To facilitate the career advancement and satisfaction of Harvard Medical School (HMS) faculty at Children's Hospital Boston, fostering careers of all junior faculty, and increasing leadership opportunities for women and minorities

The Office of Faculty Development's Mentoring Guidebooks, Guidelines for Junior Faculty and Guidelines for Mentors, have been updated for 2011 - 2012 and are now available on our Community of Mentors webpage.

2012 OFD Faculty Career Development Fellowship Application is now online; for
information, click the "Fellowships and Opportunities" link on the left.  Due date is March 8, 2012, 3 PM.

Promotion to Associate Professor
Tuesday, February 7, 12 - 1 PM, CH Library's Gamble Room, lunch provided
This workshop will have a central focus on outlining the criteria for areas of
excellence pertaining to the HMS Associate Professor level as well as some helpful
tips on adapting the CV.
CME credit available to faculty.

Black History Month Observance Grand Rounds
Wednesday, February 8, 12 - 1 PM, Folkman Auditorium (Enders Building)
This event is supported by the Children's Hospital Diversity and Cultural
Competency Council (DCCC), Human Resources, and the Office of Faculty
Development
The BHM Grand Rounds speaker will be Kevin Churchwell, MD, Chief Executive
Officer for Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children in Wilmington, Delaware.
He also serves as Nemours Senior Vice President.  He completed his pediatric
residency and a clinical fellowship in Anesthesia and Pediatric Critical Care at
CHB.  Dr. Churchwell's Grand Rounds topic is Road to Continuous Improvement
at Nemours.


Strategies for Applying for CHB Clinical and Translational Grants (OFD, CTSU, TRP)

This workshop will assist faculty in understanding the 3 CHB fellowships available
to junior faculty: OFD Career Development Fellowships; CTSU Clinical and
Translational Research Grants; Translational Research Program Awards.
Topics will include how to decide which grants are best for your research and position
at CHB, the process for applying, and the elements that contribute to a great proposal.
CME credit available to faculty.

Black History Month Event:
Will the Circle Be Unbroken: The Legacy of the 1960’s Southern Student Movement

By Judy Richardson, filmmaker
In recognition of Black History Month, join the library in welcoming Judy Richardson,
noted filmmaker, editor and lecturer. She will discuss her experiences as an active staff
member of the Student Nonviolent Coordination Committee (SNCC); her work on
numerous film productions including the Academy Award nominated Eyes on the Prize
and her work on Hands on the Freedom Plow: Personal Accounts by Women in SNCC.
Limited copies of the book and video are available for loan at the library.

Strategies for Saving for College
