Research Overview
Dr. Gonzalez-Heydrich's research focuses on two major areas--psychiatric disorders in children with epilepsy and pediatric bipolar disorder. He is approaching these disorders from both pharmaco-epidemiological and clinical perspectives--probing the neurobiological bases for these disorders as well as seeking better treatments for them.
He and colleagues are currently recruiting patients into a double blind placebo controlled crossover study of Concerta for treating ADHD in children who have epilepsy. They are also recruiting children with bipolar disorder into a placebo-controlled trial of risperdal.
