Research Lab

Oettgen Laboratory

Facilities

The lab is located on the 10th floor of the Children's Hospital Boston's Karp Research building, which opened on the fall of 2003. We are fully equipped to perform state-of-the-art tissue culture, cellular immunological assays and molecular biological experiments. We have unrestricted access to the Division of Immunology FACScalibur flow cytometer.

Mice are hosed in a modern pathgen-free facility in the same building as the lab. We have a six-chamber BUXCO® apparatus for non-invasive whole-body plethysmographic assessment of mouse bronchial responsiveness to methacholine. We are equipped to perform routine histologic analyses on mouse tissues as well as immunohistrochemistry and immunofluorescence microscopy.

For gene expression analyses, including measurements of cytokine transcripts in mouse tissues, the lab has aquired an ABI 7300 "Real-Time" quantitative PCR platform.
