Research Overview
Dr. Sharara-Chami research focuses on elucidating the effects of the stress hormone epinephrine by studying a mouse model that was made epinephrine- deficient by disrupting the enzyme that catalyzes epinephrine synthesis.
She works in the lab of Dr. Joseph Majzoub, Chief of the Endocrinology Division at Children's Hospital Boston.
Research Goals
Study the pathophysiology of epinephrine deficiency in the basal state, during metabolic stress and during cardiovascular stress.
Translational Impact
Research will help to better understand the role that epinephrine plays in critically ill patients and to address the requirements for epinephrine infusion during shock.
