Research Overview

In his research, Fred Shapiro seeks to elucidate the causes of pediatric skeletal deformities. His laboratory uses light and electron microscopy to assess bone and cartilage. He is particularly interested in early distinctions in the growing skeleton between pathobiology and normal bone biology and the microscopy-magnetic resonance imaging characteristics that differentiate one from the other.

About Frederic Shapiro

Frederic Shapiro received his MD degree from the University of Toronto Faculty of Medicine. He completed a residency in orthopedic surgery at the Montreal General Hospital: McGill University, Montreal, Quebec and a research fellowship in orthopedic surgery at Boston Children's Hospital.
