Xin works in the bioinformatics field, and is developing an in-house Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) for the Molecular Genetics Core Facility. She designed the database to better organize the high throughput microarray data generated by the core facility, and developed web interface, which allows researchers easy access to their own microarray projects and provides automatic data management tools to the lab technicians. The LIMS system supports both Affymetrix and Illumina microarray technology, and is a safe and organized way to store research data. She is also working on integrating this system and a customized data analysis software, which will provide researchers user-friendly statistical analysis tools.
