Marek obtained his Master's Degree in Biotechnology in Warsaw, Poland. He joined the Beggs Lab in January 2007, and he instantly become involved in a project investigating the importance of myotubularin (MTM1) in muscle development and its involvement in X-linked myotubular myopathy (XLMTM). To understand the physiological function(s) of myotubularin, Marek utilizes both MTM1 knock-down and overexpression in C2C12 cell line (murine myoblasts).
