Elizabeth received her Master's Degree in genetic counseling from Brandeis University in Waltham, MA, in 2004 and joined the Beggs laboratory in January, 2005. She acts as a liaison between the laboratory and research participants/referring clinicians. She uses her genetic counseling skills to identify and recruit study participants, design recruitment materials, gather and analyze clinical data, as well as to respond to inquiries about inheritance patterns, research studies, and general information about the congenital myopathies. She also reports recent developments and coordinates follow up studies with referring physicians and CLIA-certified
laboratories. In addition, Elizabeth monitors legal and ethical issues concerning genetic research.
If you would like to contact Elizabeth regarding her work in the Beggs lab or to ask general questions about our research, please write to: edechene@enders.tch.harvard.edu.
