Visit the PDA eCommons site for news items important to PostDocs. News items about 1) new IRS regulations requiring PostDocs and their academic institutions to pay FICA, 2) PostDoc Survey Highlights, 3) the National Academies Study (released March 18, 2005) about "early investigators in life sciences" (statistics on funding, age of "newly independent investigators" and suggestions for the NIH) have recently been posted. Also, a new resource packet for CV/Resume/Interviewing skills (including information on FIRST) is now available (you can find this by clicking "resources").

NEW ENGLAND BIOSCIENCE SOCIETY for Korean and Korean/American scientists, engineers and clinicians
NEBS is a biological and medical professional group based in the New England area, and include the States of Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Vermont and Maine. NEBS consists of Korean and Korean/American scientists, engineers and clinicians who are engaged in diverse areas of biological/medical sciences at universities, institutes, hospitals and companies from the New England area. NEBS, since its foundation in 1984, has been dedicated to one single most important goal: to promote scientific and social communications among the members. To date, more than two thousands of outstanding scientists and clinicians actively participating in and contributing to NEBS. After 20 years of history, over 500 Korean scientists from almost 30 different schools, institutes and companies around New England are registered in our NEBS. THE SINO-AMERICAN PHARMACEUTICAL PROFESSIONALS ASSOCIATION NEW ENGLAND, SAPA's New England Chapter, SAPA-NE, aims to promote pharmaceutical exchanges and cooperation in both industry and academia between China and the USA and to assist career opportunities and development for our members in New England area. SAPA-NE currently has more than 900 members. Many of members come from various pharmaceutical/biotech companies, well-known universities/research institutes, and government agencies from the USA, China, and other countries. Most of SAPA-NE members have Ph.D. degrees or currently are Ph.D. candidates. The CHINESE STUDENTS AND SCHOLARS ASSOCIATION AT HARVARD MEDICAL SCHOOL was created in February 2007. This Association is open to all Chinese postdocs, no fee is involved, and donations are welcome but not mandatory.
