International Day 2009

The 2009 DFCI-Children's International Day will be held Thursday, November 19th at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in the Dana Building, Room 1620, from 2:00 until 5:00pm.

The day features a wide array of poster and table presentations at individual booths representing different countries. In addition to informational presentations, the smell of delicious foods, the sound of music from around the world, the beauty of people wearing their traditional costumes, greet the visitor. 2008 represented the first year when Dana-Farber invited Children?s to participate in a joint International Day.

Come and participate in the countries of the world. In addition to poster/table presentations from around the world, we will also have:
  • Live music & dance
  • Chinese calligraphy
  • Fabulous food
  • Arts & Crafts
  • Recipes & cookbooks
  • Raffle Prizes
  • Videos & slide shows
    All participants are Children's and Dana-Farber employees, or their family members. Come support our international community!

  • Seeking volunteers to plan International Day 2009, Thursday, November 19

    Help to bring the United Nations to CHB and DFCI!

    The DFCI Cultural Observances Committee seeks enthusiastic team players to serve on our International Day Planning Committee. Help plan the second annual CHB-DFCI joint INTERNATIONAL DAY at DFCI, November 19, 2009.

    The planning committee will have the support and guidance of the larger Cultural Observances Committee and the Office of Diversity and Talent Management. An action plan and templates for the event already exist.

    Responsibilities:
  • Recruit teams to participate
  • Create publicity to spread word about the event
  • Collaborate with Sodexho on food and beverage order
  • Order and pick up poster boards for tables? displays
  • Recruit and schedule performances (music, dance, martial arts, etc.)
  • Check in with teams and confirm their display needs
  • Acquire/purchase raffle items
  • Schedule coverage of the event by the Communications department
  • Generate and implement new program ideas
  • Design of ?Passport? (event program/handout)
  • Have fun! Time commitment
  • 4-6 meetings (once a month, then more frequently Oct-Nov)
  • Communication via phone and email as needed We need your talent, leadership, enthusiasm and involvement to make this the biggest International Day celebration ever. If you would like to be part of planning this event, please contact Office of Fellowship Training

    International Day 2008

    The 2008 DFCI-Children's International Day was held November 20th at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in the Dana Building, Room 1620, from 2:00 until 5:00pm.
