This is an invitation to all postdoctoral research fellows at Children's Hospital Boston to attend a meeting to allow you to voice your concerns, or satisfaction about your overall work environment, receiving performance feedback, mentoring and other topics.
This will be used - with your identity protected - to teach others at the hospital about diversity issues.

DATE: Wednesday, August 6th
TIME: 12:00-1:00pm (Including lunch)
LOCATION: Byers B (Enders lobby conference room
REGISTER: Office of Fellowship Training
Everyone's confidentiality is protected.

Details:
As part of an overall mission to improve the quality of care and service that Children's Hospital Boston provides, Human Resources along with the Diversity and Cultural Competency Council (DCCC) at CHB have hired an outside consultant group to listen to the concerns of all employees, in an effort to ensure culturally appropriate and respectful interactions in all areas, including research.
This is an invitation to attend a focus group on August 6, from 12Noon to 1PM in Byers B. Lunch will be served. This focus group is just for postdoctoral research fellows and is designed to allow you to voice your concerns, or satisfaction about your overall work environment, receiving performance feedback, mentoring and other topics.
No administrators from Children's will be present. The outside consultant is conducting discussions to shape a DVD of "diversity monologues" that will reflect all areas of Children's, but no individual in particular. The DVD will be used to train all Children's employees on issues that concern us regarding working together as a diverse group. In order for training participants to get a full sense of all perspectives at Children's, it is important to include researchers, and particularly, postdoctoral research fellows. Won't you include your voice in this important work? Please remember that your own words and identity will be protected.
Thanks in advance for your thoughts and participation.

    New Fellows' Orientation
This optional fellows' orientation, which is repeated monthly, and held through the summer, focuses on the questions that fellows need answered when they first arrive at Children's Hospital and in Boston, such as:
  • Are you unfamiliar with the Harvard institutions and their focuses?
  • Do you know how and when to choose a health plan for you and your family?
  • Do you need information on accessing articles using the Children's Hospital Library or Countway?
  • Do you seek answers about your positive tuberculosis test?
  • Do you need information on high quality childcare for less?
  • Do you wonder how to get discount tickets?

The seminar includes a component for international fellows.
