Amplatzer Duct Occluder

Amplatzer duct occluder device (10-8 mm size). The device is made of 0.004 inch thick Nitinol wire, has a conical shape, and contains a polyester fiber patch that promotes thrombosis and occlusion. There is a retention skirt 2 mm in diameter around the distal part of the device to aid in securing the position in the aortic end of the ductus. The device is available in a variety of sizes including 6-4; 8-6; 10-8; 12-10; 14-12; and 16-14 mm. A size is chosen so the smaller diameter is 2-3 mm larger than the minimal diameter of the ductus. The two smallest devices are 7 mm in length and can be placed via a 5-6 Fr sheath while the larger devices are 8 mm in length and require a 7 Fr sheath.
