Barium Swallow: Left Aortic Arch with Aberrant Origin of Right Subclavian Artery

3-month-old infant with barium swallow showing a subtle posterior impression on the upper esophagus. This was a constant feature and did not vary with peristalsis. An anterior-posterior chest radiograph showed a left aortic arch. This pattern is consistent with aberrant origin of the right subclavian artery from the descending aorta, and coursing of the right subclavian artery posterior to the esophagus. This anatomy was confirmed by echocardiography.
