Robert’s Program is a service offered to families in Massachusetts who have lost a child under the age of three years suddenly and unexpectedly.

Based at Boston Children's Hospital, our program brings together teams of the top doctors in their fields to apply new technologies and discoveries to every family whose child has succumbed suddenly and unexpectedly.

Our team has the most current medical knowledge of sudden and unexpected death. They have been studying sudden unexpected death in pediatrics (SUDP) - which encompasses sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) and sudden unexpected death in childhood (SUDC) - for more than 20 years.

Our far-reaching program involves clinicians and scientists from the fields of:

  • general pediatrics
  • cardiology
  • endocrinology
  • metabolism
  • neurology
  • emergency medicine
  • psychiatry
  • palliative care
  • genetics, public health
  • pediatric and forensic pathology
  • neuropathology

We work collaboratively with

  • the Massachusetts Office of the Chief Medical Examiner (OCME)
  • the Massachusetts Center for Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS).
  • the Massachusetts Infant and Child Death Bereavement Program
