The Rheumatology Program at Boston Children’s Hospital is dedicated to providing comprehensive care to children and adolescents with a broad range of rheumatologic and inflammatory diseases.
Rheumatology is the field of medicine that specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases that affect the joints, muscles and connective tissues. These conditions are typically inflammatory or autoimmune disorders, which means that the body’s immune system attacks itself and causes chronic pain, redness, swelling or fever.
Our program offers the latest treatment options for these often painful and sometimes debilitating conditions. Children in our clinic will be seen by an experienced staff that includes pediatric and adult rheumatologists, physical therapists, occupational therapistsand registered nurses. Our services include:

The Rheumatology Program at Boston Children’s is a national referral center for a variety of illnesses, particularly inflammatory disorders of the blood vessels such as Kawasaki disease, as well as juvenile arthritisand juvenile dermatomyositis. In addition, we are an internationally recognized center for the evaluation of unique or undiagnosed rheumatologic conditions.
Paired with our clinical expertise is an interest in making sure that our care is informed by the latest research and educating our patients and their families about their condition and its treatment. Members of our staff are leaders in exploring the causes and optimal treatments of pediatric rheumatologic conditions.
