Pilonidal Care Program | What to Expect

Initial Visit:

When you are referred to the Pilonidal Care Clinic, our staff will reach out to you to schedule you for a New Patient Consultation. In most cases, you will see our Physician Assistant, Hajar Delshad at our Boston location.

A complete history of your child’s pilonidal disease will be taken, as well as information regarding other medical problems, current medications, allergies, and previous pilonidal treatments to date.

Please plan to arrive at least 15 minutes prior to your appointment and bring any medications with you.

Your Child's Exam:

Once you are called into the exam room, the nurse or clinical assistant may obtain your child's height, weight and vital signs. You will then be seen by the PA or physician. A thorough examination will be done. Our clinicians will discuss the treatments offered by our program and their recommendations for the best options for your child. No treatments are performed at this visit, but you will have plenty of time to ask any questions you may have.

Follow-up:

After your initial consultation, you will be scheduled for a follow-up appointment at our Waltham location to begin treatment.

Check-in:

Our Pilonidal Care Clinic is at Boston Children’s Hospital at Waltham (9 Hope Avenue, Waltham) in the Multi-Specialty Clinic. This is located on 2 East (2nd Floor, East Wing) of the main building. Please check in at the front desk.

At anytime, please do not hesitate to ask our staff for assistance or information. You can also reach the medical team via email at any time, though we do not recommended email in case of urgent issues.
