Boston Children's is proud to announce that the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU) has received the American Association of Critical Care Nurses' (AACN) Beacon Award for Critical Care Excellence. This prestigious award recognizes individual critical care units that have met rigid evidence-based criteria for excellence in patient outcomes, care quality, patient safety, interdisciplinary practice, innovation and family centered care.
Boston Children’s also received the Lantern Award from the Emergency Nurses Association, which is given to emergency departments that exemplify exceptional practice and innovative performance in the core areas of leadership, practice, education, advocacy and research. The award is a visible symbol of an emergency department’s commitment to quality, presence of a healthy work environment and accomplishment in incorporating evidence-based practice and innovation into emergency care.
