The Medical Acupuncture Service provides care though both an inpatient service in Boston and an outpatient Medical Acupuncture Clinic at Boston Children's at Waltham.
The service works with children and young adults to help them manage a variety of acute and chronic pain problems through acupuncture, including:
Children with cancer, sickle cell disease, hemophilia , cystic fibrosis, endometriosis, Crohn's disease and other medical diseases are also treated and form a challenging but rewarding group of children to work with.
The Medical Acupuncture Clinic is a weekly outpatient service that features acupuncture treatment of children and adolescents who have a variety of pain problems, such as those listed above and also including fibromyalgia, low back pain, nausea related to chemotherapy, chronic fatigue syndrome and others.
The majority of patients come weekly for four to six weeks and then return for monthly follow-ups.
