Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia Program 617-355-6019

Ryan Haigh, from Atlanta, GA

RyanWhile in utero, Ryan was diagnosed with severe right-sided congenital diaphragmatic hernia (CDH).

After extensive evaluation and family discussion with Jay Wilson, MD, and AFCC program director Russell Jennings, MD at Boston Children's, Ryan underwent an EXIT procedure with trial of ventilation and placement on ECMO. He then underwent subsequent repair of his diaphragm and spent two months at Boston Children's Hospital recovering from his surgery. Ryan is now an active and healthy toddler.

We are grateful to have been ranked #1 on U.S. News & World Report's list of the best children's hospitals in the nation for the third year in a row, an honor we could not have achieved without the patients and families who inspire us to do our very best for them. Thanks to you, Boston Children's is a place where we can write the greatest children's stories ever told.”
