Local, Regional and National Education

The department has a long history of participation in educational activities, including teaching and presenting at local, regional and national conferences. Topics have included exercise in the cystic fibrosis population, dance and sports medicine, scoliosis, spasticity management and pediatric chronic pain. Staffs have been lecturers and adjunct faculty in physical therapy and dance programs at local academic institutions including Massachusetts General Hospital Institute of Health Professions, Boston University, Simmons College, Bay State College and The Boston Conservatory.

Clinical Education Opportunities

Both the Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy Departments at Boston Children's Hospital offers a variety of clinical educational opportunities to entry-level students in both professional and assistant programs. Since Boston Children's Hospital is a specialized pediatric facility, affiliates should be completing the last clinical affiliation of their program, or a clinical internship, and have a genuine interest in pediatrics. Boston Children's Hospital traditionally accepts students from the academic programs within the New England region. However, affiliates from other programs are welcome and encouraged to apply. Post-professional educational opportunities are provided upon special request. Requests for entry-level clinical education experiences should be initiated by the Academic Coordinator of Clinical Education at the academic institution.

We are grateful to have been ranked #1 on U.S. News & World Report's list of the best children's hospitals in the nation for the third year in a row, an honor we could not have achieved without the patients and families who inspire us to do our very best for them. Thanks to you, Boston Children's is a place where we can write the greatest children's stories ever told.”
