The Eating Disorders Program at Boston Children's Hospital is actively involved in many research projects aimed at providing a better understanding of adolescent eating disorders and developing new treatments.

Current projects include research in:

  • Therapies for prevention of osteoporosis in girls with eating disorders

  • Eating patterns and weight control behaviors that lead to eating disorders and obesity

  • Nutritional patterns and eating disorder risk in school and community settings

  • Assessments of middle school environments that promote healthy nutrition, body image and physical activity

  • New therapies for eating disorders, including a clinical practice guideline

  • National Quality Improvement collaborative study to compare and improve care of adolescents with restrictive eating disorders across the country

Boston Children’s is so much more than a hospital—it’s a community of researchers, clinicians, administrators, support staff, innovators, teachers, patients and families, all working together to make the impossible possible. ”
