Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) Program

For decades, Boston Children's orthopedic surgeons and sports medicine team have led the way in caring for athletes of all ages with an ACL tear. We pioneered ACL reconstruction techniques tailored to the patient’s age and physical maturity and lead the way in developing new approaches to ACL surgery.

Dance Medicine Section

Dance is a complex physical commitment that requires holistic treatment of the musculoskeletal system. Our dedicated team cares for dancers of all ages and levels of competition by evaluating nutrition, bone and endocrine health, podiatry (foot care) and sports psychology.

Female Athlete Program

The experts in our Female Athlete Program use a comprehensive approach to diagnosis, treatment and management to keep female athletes healthy and at the top of their game. Our caregivers assess the whole athlete and evaluate exercise habits, hormonal balance and nutritional needs, not just symptoms and injuries, to ensure peak performance.

Injured Runner Clinic

Since 35 to 75 percent of runners need medical treatment each year for running-related injuries, running safely is crucial. The Injured Runners Clinic at Boston Children’s Hospital was developed to help runners of all ages and abilities who have chronic injuries.

Spine and Sports Program

The spine and sports program provides evaluation and full-service treatment for athletes with spine conditions and stable spine injuries. Our multidisciplinary practice includes sports medicine physicians, physical therapists, athletic trainers and orthotists in the NOPCO brace shop.

Sports Concussion Clinic

Boston Children’s Hospital’s Sports Concussion Clinic is the leading, research-based sports concussion program. Our team of experts delivers cutting-edge care for athletes with sports concussion, and we provide education to athletes and their families about concussion prevention and recovery.

Sports Medicine Ultrasound Clinic

Ultrasound is a safe and effective way to examine the musculoskeletal system of the body to detect problems with muscles, tendons, ligaments, joints and soft tissue without exposure to radiation. Ultrasound can be used to help diagnose and treat sports-medicine conditions such as synovitis, bursitis or tendonitis.

Boston Children’s is so much more than a hospital—it’s a community of researchers, clinicians, administrators, support staff, innovators, teachers, patients and families, all working together to make the impossible possible. ”
