Department of Psychiatry | Family Advisory Council

Patient- and Family-Centered Care

In the Department of Psychiatry at Boston Children’s Hospital (BCH), we want to give you and your family ways to get involved in making our care better. We recognize that families are essential members of their child’s health care team.  Family members know their children better than anyone else.  We welcome families’ input to help us understand and support their child’s well-being.

Psychiatry Family Advisory Council

The Psychiatry Family Advisory Council is a volunteer group of family representatives as well as members of Psychiatry leadership, who work together to improve patient care and families’ experiences in our Department. Council representatives meet quarterly, and serve a one-year term.

Accomplishments of the Council to-date:

  • Purchased new exercise equipment for our Inpatient Psychiatry Service
  • Evaluating care for patients and families who are waiting for psychiatric care on inpatient medical floors
  • Ramping up our Patient and Family Satisfaction surveys
  • Addressing the stress on families to navigate the complex mental health system
  • Contributing to the development plans for a new Intensive Community-Based Acute Treatment program
  • Making support groups more accessible

We want to hear from you!

We welcome caregivers of current Psychiatry patients to participate! To join the Council, send us an email
