The Department of Anesthesiology, Perioperative and Pain Medicine at Boston Children's Hospital offers a one year, Pediatric Anesthesiology fellowship training program which is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME). Anesthesiologists trained abroad must be ECFMG certified before starting a fellowship position at Boston Children's Hospital. The schedule for the one-year clinical fellowship is as follows:

ROTATION LENGTH
Perioperative Anesthesia 7 months
Cardiac Anesthesia 2 months
Critical Care (MSICU) 3 weeks
Pain Medicine and Regional Anesthesia 1 month
Vacation 20 days
Meeting 5 days

Flexibility exists to modify the standard rotations based on the experience and needs of individual fellows, as well as the clinical requirements of the department. All fellows receive appointments at both Boston Children's Hospital and Harvard Medical School.

We are now accepting applications for the 2015-2016 Academic Year via our new application portal which can be accessed at: https://bch.fluidreview.com/. With this new site, applicants are able to complete and submit their application entirely online, up to and including letters of recommendation. After clicking on the link, you will be prompted to create a log-in; this gives applicants the ability to view the completion status of each part of their application, edit any errors after the fact and track where their materials are in the review process. We encourage applicants to visit the site regularly to ensure all requirements are met and there are no outstanding items. Once your application is fully complete, it is sent to the Office of the Program Director for review. Decisions on each individual application are made on a rolling basis. We accept candidates for our fellowship both through the National Residency Matching Program and outside of the National Residency Matching Program

Two-Year Fellowship Option:

We are committed to developing the next generation of leaders in pediatric anesthesiology. To do so, in addition to the standard one-year pediatric anesthesiology fellowship, we offer our fellows the opportunity to stay with us for a second year of individualized training/experience. If you have specific questions about second year options, please contact Andrea Odian..
