Contact the Department of Urology

Established in 1979 by Alan Retik, MD, the Department of Urology continues its mission to provide the best clinical and research training experience in pediatric urology.

We offer a three-year fellowship experience for two fellows per year. The first two years are dedicated to basic science or clinical research. The third year, accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME), is devoted to clinical training.

Faculty members are also involved in numerous educational programs, courses and research projects.

Resident & Medical Student Training

Fellowship program information

Residents from Boston-area urology training programs rotate through Boston Children's. Third- and fourth-year students at Harvard Medical School, as well as students from across the U.S. and abroad, take part in the hospital's urology elective.

In addition, the department's laboratory offers a research elective to undergraduate students, medical students and residents from a variety of training programs.

We are grateful to have been ranked #1 on U.S. News & World Report's list of the best children's hospitals in the nation for the third year in a row, an honor we could not have achieved without the patients and families who inspire us to do our very best for them. Thanks to you, Boston Children's is a place where we can write the greatest children's stories ever told.”
