The Department of Cardiology at Boston Children's Hospital Heart Center is known around the world for its superior patient care and clinical outcomes. Drawing from a global talent pool, we have grown to become the largest in the United States and one of the most specialized in the world. We have been named #1 in Cardiology and Heart Surgery every year that U.S.News & World Report has ranked the nation's top pediatric hospitals by specialty.
From infancy to adulthood, our team of cardiologists, nurses and other specialists collectively are dedicated exclusively to providing a full spectrum of cardiac services for patients with congenital heart disease and other rare heart conditions. Each year, our cardiologists care for more than 25,000 children and adults with congenital and acquired heart defects, including the rarest and most complex cases in the world.
This level of experience translates to better outcomes. It also means that our more than 70 cardiologists can sub-specialize in different areas of cardiology and push the boundaries of what was previously possible in each of their respective areas.
From your first visit, you’ll work with a team of professionals who are committed to overseeing all of your family’s medical, physical and emotional needs. Each step we take is focused on making your family’s experience as comfortable and supportive as possible.
As a team, we’ll develop a comprehensive care plan that accounts for the many aspects of your child’s health that are affected when she has a heart condition.
The depth and breadth of the treatments, services expertise and second opinions offered through our Heart Center draw families from around the world who seek the best care possible for their loved ones. Many of our patients came from outside of New England.
The Department of Cardiology's fellowship programs support the development of future leaders in cardiovascular clinical care and laboratory/clinical investigation. We currently host 42 fellows, of which 24 are in a three-year program.
We are grateful to have been ranked #1 on U.S. News & World Report's list of the best children's hospitals in the nation for the third year in a row, an honor we could not have achieved without the patients and families who inspire us to do our very best for them. Thanks to you, Boston Children's is a place where we can write the greatest children's stories ever told.”
