Application Procedure

Incoming residents can apply for two types of positions:

A Combined Neurology and Pediatrics Residency, also known as the Categorical Program, this position includes a two-year General Pediatrics residency and a three-year Child Neurology residency at Boston Children’s Hospital.

The General Pediatrics residency is done through the Boston Combined Residency Program at Boston Children’s Hospital/Boston Medical Center (BCRP). Note: If you choose this option, you must apply separately to the BCRP (see below).

Neurodevelopmental Disabilities Residency only, also known as an Advanced Position, this option is for in which residents seeking general pediatric residency training at another hospital.

Reserve Positions are available for residents who will have completed their pediatric residency training and be ready to begin their Child Neurology or Neurodevelopmental Disabilities residency training in the Summer of 2018.

Matching

New this year, matching will be done through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS): https://www.aamc.org/students/medstudents/eras.

The Child Neurology Match will be simultaneous with the General Pediatrics match. 5 categorical match positions are available through the process.

The NDD position is through an Advanced Position match; the applicant would therefore need to find a preliminary pediatrics position through the match process.

In addition, we have one reserve match position for a Child Neurology position beginning 1 July 2018, and one NDD position through a reserve match slot to begin 1 July 2018.

Combined Neurology and Pediatrics Residency (up to five positions)

Apply to the Categorical (aka “Dummy”) Program. This match is for two years of general pediatrics in the Boston Combined Residency Program in Pediatrics at Boston Children’s Hospital/Boston Medical Center and three years of Child Neurology at Boston Children’s. You will still need to apply separately to the Boston Combined Residency Program: childrenshospital.org/bcrp/application.

Neurodevelopmental Disabilities Residency only

(at least one position)

Apply to the Advanced Placement program for three years of Neurodevelopmental Disabilities Child Neurology only.

Your completed application will be forwarded to the Child Neurology Residency Selection Committee for review.
