Careers:
Meet our Staff
Children's Hospital Boston has always been committed to exceptional care and exceptional service and so has our staff. Meet some of our dedicated staff who define excellence, respect, teamwork, enthusiasm, courtesy and communication.
Anab Farah: Primary Care Assistant
By chance, on a visit with her children to CHPCC, Anab Farah mentioned to the doctor that she was looking for a job. Within two months she was working in the very place she trusted to care for her kids...
Paul Williams: Director of Engineering
Paul began his 35-year stint at Children's in the plumbing shop. A pipe fitter by trade, he eventually became night shift supervisor, then project manager and Director of Engineering.

Paul has worked closely with the entire Facility Operations team on many infrastructure and capital improvement projects. "I work with incredible people every day," he says.

But what really keeps Paul going is the mission of the hospital. "There's a wonderful culture here that everything we do is 'for the kids,'" he says. "It's the energy that fuels this place and reminds us all why it's such a blessing to work here."

"It's the little things we do, like jumping in the car at 3 a.m. to shovel snow so families can access the hospital, that make this place so special."

Michelle Simon: Medical Secretary
My miracle baby inspired me to give back. Now in my role as a medical secretary in the Urology Department, which I started this past July, I feel I can help people...
Jennifer Fine: Communications Manager
Jennifer spent her first few years at Children's as the Program Funds coordinator in the Community Benefits office. Dedicated to community health but ready for a new challenge, she advanced into her current role as Communications Manager, overseeing the Office of Child Advocacy's overall communications efforts.

From talking to the local press to editing brochure copy, Jennifer does it with a keen eye toward promoting Children's community health mission. "I've really enjoyed watching our community health efforts grow over the years," she says. "I'm so proud of how far we've come. And it's been personally very rewarding to go out into the community and see the kids we're helping with all that we do."

Steven Mullen: Network Operating System team leader
When he's not making sure the hospital's computer servers are running smoothly or installing a new program on employee computer desktops, Steven Mullen is volunteering with the patients. "When I came to Children's, I saw it as a way I could get more involved."

Once a week, Mullen can be found spending time with children who have cystic fibrosis. He also does everything from holding babies to painting windows in the patient rooms.

"Since kids with CF are often in the hospital three or four times a year, I've had the chance to develop bonds with many of them," he says. "I've tried my best not to miss volunteer nights over the past 10 years. The kids notice when I'm not there, and always want to know where I was the next time I volunteer. It's really amazing."

"Walking through the front doors of the hospital in the spring of 2005, a new Children's employee ID badge in hand, was a 'full circle' life experience for me..."

Vegas Richemond, a Boston native, was reading the Boston Metro one day when he came across an ad...
Image Frances Colón, MSW: Mental Health Clinician
Frances Colón's job description includes terms like "social work" and "therapy," but that doesn't cover all that her work at Children's Hospital Boston entails. On any given day, she might be found at a local high school...
Image Faith Patterson: Radiographer
Faith Patterson joined the U. S. Army Reserve the day after she graduated from Boston College. Just one year after joining the Children's team, Patterson's unit was deployed to Kosovo for a peacekeeping mission...
Image Lebarron Smith: Security Officer
Lebarron Smith, nighttime security officer at Children's, is a night person. "It's much more peaceful and quiet," he says. "I go on tours of the hospital, making sure doors are locked, and people are where they are supposed to be. I also answer calls, like code red or code blue, which take me to different floors."

But a lot of Smith's night is spent doing what he likes the most -- escorting employees. "I drive the Children's van and take employees to different T stations or parking lots to make sure they get home safely," he said. "The employees who work nights are very friendly. Always saying 'hello' and smiling. It's really great."
