Growing Up PH Style

Hi!

This is Shannon here to tell you more about growing up with PH.

Let's have a little review: PH stands for pulmonary hypertension or high blood pressure in the lungs. This means no more gym class (unless you count karate as gym class).

Growing up with PH has made me the person I am today. If I did not have PH I think I would be the same except I would not be carrying around my backpack, Halo. PH has made me stronger, more mature and I have more respect and understanding for others. I can not imagine life without PH. I do not worry about my illness. I trust Dr. Mullen, my cardiologist, and my nurses.

I look up to Hannah Carr, a Miami Springs basketball player, who has PH. She plays basketball with her pump tied to her leg and inspired me to think I can do anything!

You can do anything Sweetheart, I am so proud of you! You are in high school now! I can't believe it. Congratulations. I loved seeing all of the great pics of you on this site. Say hi to Mom and Dad for me.

What is up?! It is me, Hannah Carr. Well, actually I am Hannah Lahmeyer now because I got married in January. I also graduated college in May. I am glad that you were able to do these postings. I think it will be really helpful for not just PH patients, but all kids with diseases. Your so right about not letting PH hold you back from anything. I am proud of all you have accomplished. Keep up the good work.
