Recent BCRP graduate Aaron Bernstein is a lead author and co-editor, along with Eric Chivian, of Sustaining Life, a new book published by Oxford University Press and co-sponsored by the United Nations Development Program, the United Nations Environmental Program and the International Union for the Conservation of Nature. The book makes the case that human health depends on biodiversity, or the variety of life on Earth. Al Gore has called it "the most complete and powerful argument I have seen for the importance of preserving biodiversity."
In addition to his research that explores the effects of global environmental change, such as climate change and biodiversity loss, upon health, Ari is an avid violist and cook, who is known among his fellow residents for making some of the best post-call breakfasts around.
Ari has been named a Harvard University Zuckerman Fellow for the 2008-2009 academic year and will obtain his MPH from the Harvard School of Public Health.
