Flower Schliesman and Von L. Meyer Travel Funding
The following are examples of sites of Third World travel by residents funded by the Schliesman & Von L Meyer Funds. These funds are specifically for oversees travel and medical experience. Approximately 20 residents each year receive approximately $1,000 for this purpose.

  • Primary care for indigent children (India)
  • Work in small health care center and orphanage (Nicaragua)
  • Rural health care for hematologic disorders (Kenya)
  • Creation of the Street Children Home (Bolivia)
  • Institution of a rural clinic (Dominican Republic)
  • Operation Hope: care for indigent children (Philippines)
  • Development of a rural preventive health program (China)
  • Pediatric practice with Navajo Indians (New Mexico)
  • Good Shepherd Hospital HIV care (Swaziland)
  • Health care in a Tibetan refugee settlement (India)
  • Treatment of diarrhea in a rural health clinic (Ghana)
  • Reduction in neonatal mortality in an underserved population (Tanzania)
Recent residents have also done projects in Costa Rica, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, Iran, Mexico, Mozambique, Nepal, Nigeria, Peru, South Africa, Trinidad, Uganda, Uruguay, Vietnam and Zambia.
