Dr. Schumacher joins the BCRP from Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center where he completed fellowship training in pediatric emergency medicine. He obtained his MD and pediatric residency training at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and served as chief resident there. His academic and research interests focus on learner assessment, competency-based medical education, supervision, and the important intersection of these areas. He is a member of the Pediatrics Milestone Project, a collaborative effort of the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) and American Board of Pediatrics (ABP), which is advancing outcomes assessment and provides the backbone of the ACGME's Next Accreditation System. Dan has also been involved in efforts of the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and the ABP, including being the first AAP medical student subcommittee chair, testifying to the ACGME about resident duty hours and related issues on behalf of the AAP, and currently serving on an ABP task force considering the future of subspecialty training and certification in pediatrics.
