Mark A. Schuster, MD, PhD, is a general pediatrician who conducts research on child, adolescent, and family issues. He currently leads NIH studies on childhood obesity prevention, adolescent sexual health, and the use of paid family leave by families of chronically ill children. He also leads a longitudinal CDC study of 5,000 children on the topics of substance use, violence, physical activity, nutrition, and health. He comes to Children's from RAND, where he was Director of Health Promotion and Disease Prevention, and the UCLA Department of Pediatrics, where he was Chief of General Pediatrics and a Vice-Chair. Dr. Schuster did his pediatrics residency at Children's after receiving his MD from Harvard and his Masters in Public Policy from the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard. He is eager to talk with prospective residents interested in general pediatrics, health policy research, or community service.
