Medical history and genetic testing

To evaluate your child for birth defects, your medical team will assess your family's medical and genetic history and study your child's newborn screening tests. Together, these are important tools we use to look for birth defects and their potential causes. A complete medical history includes asking your child's mother about her pregnancy, examining your child's neonatal and pediatric history and looking at your child's genetic test results.
