Overview
The skin is the body's largest organ, covering the entire body and serving as a protective shield against heat, light, injury and infection.
- The skin is made up of three different layers: the epidermis, the dermis and the subcutis, or fat layer.
- Knowing more about the anatomy of the skin – and the types of skin conditions that can occur there – will help you provide your child's physician with the most accurate description of your child's condition.
