Breast self-examination
Disease Information
Overview
Breast self-examination (BSE) is a procedure performed by a woman to physically and visually examine herself for any changes in the breasts and underarm areas of her body.
- BSE can help you discover any lumps in your breasts, which should then be examined by your doctor.
- BSE should not be used in place of, but in addition to, clinical breast examination and mammography.
