Biliary reconstruction describes a variety of surgical procedures that are performed to replace portions of the biliary or digestive system that are missing at birth or damaged due to illness.
Why is biliary reconstruction performed?
Some conditions that could require biliary reconstruction include infants who are born without a bile duct, a bile duct obstruction such as a choledochal cyst, and in cases where a portion of the liver needs to be removed due to illness.
