Cardiac tumors are rare in the pediatric age group. The most common primary cardiac tumor in infants and children is rhabdomyoma, which frequently presents as multiple tumors and can be associated with tuberous sclerosis. Partial or complete regression of this type of tumor can occur. Other types of primary tumor include fibroma, hemangioma, myxoma, hamartoma, teratoma, lipoma, and various forms of sarcoma. There are other rare miscellaneous types. Tumors may involve the endocardium, myocardium, epicardium, or pericardium. Tumors are most commonly diagnosed with the aid of echocardiography.� The tumor type can frequently be assessed with the aid of magnetic resonance imaging.
