Newborn special care
Disease Information
Overview
There have been many advances in the care of sick and premature babies, not just in technology and medicine, but also in meeting the special emotional and developmental needs of newborn babies who need extra care. Premature babies especially need a supportive environment to help them continue to mature and develop as they would in their mother's womb.
How Boston Children's Hospital approaches newborns who need special care
At Children's Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), we strive to ease each child's transition from womb to life. Our NICU is the pre-eminent regional center for highly technical, specialized cases; you can rest assured that in almost every case, our doctors and nurses have seen and treated your child's problem before.
We also make it our mission to involve the entire family in the treatment process, explaining and deciphering complex medical jargon to ease your worries. Your child will receive personal attention and be attended to by devoted nurses and doctors.
