Puberty for boys

Disease Information

Overview

Puberty is an exciting time, with many physical and emotional changes that can be challenging for teens and parents alike. While each boy is unique, having some idea of what to expect can help navigate the landscape of entering adolescence. Here are a few things to keep in mind:

  • Changes associated with puberty may occur gradually, or several signs may become visible at the same time.

  • There’s a lot of variation in how quickly these changes occur. It’s often completely normal to be smaller or bigger than other boys, as your son will experience puberty in his own time.

Children’s Hospital Boston has a resource Web site developed just for teen boys, called the Center for Young Men’s Health.
