CHIPS is one of the oldest pediatric hospitalist programs in the country (initiated in 1998) and the first program in the world to offer a fellowship in pediatric hospitalist medicine. Nationally, he is one of a handful of individuals who have helped define the field of pediatric hospital medicine. He has authored a number of papers with regard to hospital medicine and as a hospitalist, served both as a Deputy and Associate Editor for the Journal of Hospital Medicine and still serves on the Editorial Board of Pediatrics and the Advisory Board for AccessPediatrics. As an educator, Vinny has been a leader at Boston Children’s Hospital with regard to both undergraduate and graduate medical education. Most recently, he was named as the site director for Harvard Medical School’s new Executive Training Program. In 2004, he also became the Associate Program Director for the Boston Combined Residency Program in Pediatrics, one of the largest pediatric residency programs in the country.

Administratively, Vinny has completed training at both Harvard Business School (alumni status) and the Harvard School of Public Health. As a result, his career has now shifted to focus more on hospital administration. In 2011, he was elected to serve as the Secretary-Treasurer for the Physicians’ Organization at Boston Children’s Hospital and in 2012, he was appointed Vice-Chair of Finance for the Department of Medicine. In 2015, he was named as the Special Advisor to the Executive Vice President of Boston Children’s Hospital. As a result, he serves on or leads a number of committees with regard to many of the operational aspects within the hospital. Most of his recent educational offerings focus on leadership and creating culture change within an organization.
