Automated Red Cell
|
|
An Automated Red Cell Collection selectively separates the red cells and plasma blood components as the blood is drawn and immediately returns the rest to the donor. Automated Red Cell Donations use a cell separator to draw blood and provides volume replacement (saline solution) to replace the volume of blood lost by the donor. Your donation will result in two red cell transfusions for patients (this is less blood volume than when you give whole blood but a more concentrated and consistent product for patients). Volume replacement should help you feel more comfortable after the procedure. This type of donation is perfect for donors who are unable to travel to Children's to donate frequently.
