Children's Hospital Boston holds Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. Observance Program
Each January, Children's Hospital Boston honors the memory of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. by holding the MLK Observance Program. The theme of this year's Children's Hospital Boston's Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s Observance was MLK Legacy: Living the Dream.
Held in Children's Enders Auditorium, the program included prayer, musical selections, a dance performance, and recognition of the Black Achievers for the year. Dr. Emery N. Brown, Professor, at Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts Institute of Technology served as keynote speaker.
A musical selection was offered by Alan Willis, a graduate student from the New England Conservatory of Music and a dance performance was provided by Toni Jackson, a nurse and dancer. The two recipients of the 2009 Black Achievers Awards, Michelle Boyce and Victoria Dune, were presented with their awards at the event.
"The MLK Observance is one of the few times during the year when employees representing all sectors of Children's gather in one place," says Jessica Henderson Daniel, PhD, ABPP, who chairs the MLK Observance Committee. "The diversity of the audience is a tribute to the memory of Dr. King."
