Who we are
The Department of Community Benefits serves as the liaison between Children's Hospital Boston and the community, in collaboration with community-based organizations and health centers. The work of the Department is guided by the Partnership for Children Community Advisory Board comprised of community residents, community based organization representatives, community and service providers and leaders in the private industry.
Our mission
The Department of Community Benefits at Children's Hospital Boston works in partnership with the community to devise and implement initiatives that protect the health and well being of children and adolescents, while supporting and strengthening the well being of families and communities.
Target population
The primary target population for Community Benefits is defined as children and adolescents living in poverty in the city of Boston, with special attention to our immediate neighborhoods of Mission Hill, Jamaica Plain and the Fenway.
Program Priorities
Community Benefits focuses its efforts on three childhood health needs: injury prevention, asthma management and access to health care. The selection of these programmatic priorities were based on: 1) analysis of needs within the targeted population; 2) the opportunity to reach a spectrum of ages from infancy through adolescence: 3) the potential to have a positive impact with available resources on health outcomes; 4) the ability to complement other community-based and Hospital initiatives.
