Boston Children’s Hospital shares our referring physicians’ concerns about the climbing costs of health care—and the resulting impact on both their practices and the patients and families they serve.
In fact, Boston Children’s is the only pediatric institution taking aggressive steps to reshape the market by lowering costs over the long term:
Over the past three years, Boston Children’s has held our expenses to well below medical inflation, taking approximately $170 million out of the health care system.
We are leading the charge to reduce costs by integrating primary and specialty care—promoting community capacity, empowering primary care physicians and upholding exceptional care standards across the board.
In particular, Boston Children’s is supporting the goals of primary care physicians by:
Implementing a patient-centered medical home model by developing a new portal, MyPatients@Boston Children’s, that will allow referring physicians to securely access all of their patients’ essential information online
Introducing programs to make certain that, when patients do need to come to Boston Children’s for treatment, they receive the highest-quality care.
